The traditional sugar skull represents the celebration of life and death as part of the modern-day Dia de los Muertos festivities. This pice is approximately 15 lbs. of sugar, measuring just under 4 feet tall. The skull itself is pressed sugar and the detail consists of various techniques such as air brush work with food coloring and royal icing piping work. to ensure longevity, the piece is heavily treated with a 7-layer moisture barrier, hence the gloss and shine. For additional protection, the piece is encased in an oak frame and sets behind UV glass and with extreme hardware already built in to allow for showcasing on a wall, should a collector to do so.
